While it has somewhat dropped out of the mainstream news, thousands of firefighters from all around the world are still battling bushfires in Australia. Although rain and cooler conditions have helped to bring the fires down from their peak, there are still more than 50 fires burning in the states of New South Wales and Victoria.

Australia has faced months of drought and record-breaking temperatures, which fueled hundreds of fires across Australia since late 2019. So far, at least 33 people have been killed, with that number including four firefighters.

But Australia's wildlife has been worst hit, with more than 11 million hectares of land burned and an estimated one billion animals killed. On Kangaroo Island, where bushfires have now been contained, up to half of the island's 50,000 koalas are believed to have perished in the fires.

Individuals and companies around the world are doing their part to raise funds to help Australia's wildlife recover. Last week, Lush released a special range of Koala-shaped soap called 'All The Wild Things' with 100% of the purchase price (minus taxes) going to the Bush Animal Fund.

And now, Funko has announced that they're releasing a limited edition figure dedicated to firefighters battling the blazes and benefiting injured and displaced animals. Retailing for $19.99 (AUD) all proceeds from the "Bushfire Heroes" collectible will benefit the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' National Bushfire Appeal.

"The RSPCA are working alongside government and emergency agencies, veterinarians and local authorities to provide much needed equipment and supplies, emergency care and identifying and assessing injured animals in need of assistance," Funko's Jesse Little said in an announcement.

The item will be sold exclusively on PopCultcha.com.au, and is currently available for preorder if you want one. If you don't live in Australia and still want to grab one of these, the store does ship internationally though it can get a little expensive.
