Brother creates stunning prom dress for sister when family couldn't afford one

Maverick Francisco Oyao, a college student from Zamboanga City, showcased his incredible talent and dedication by crafting a stunning prom dress for his sister, Lu Asey, when their family couldn't afford to rent one.

Maverick shared his journey in a viral Facebook post, revealing his determination to give Lu a dress and a prom experience she would cherish for years. With their parents unable to afford a ball gown for her junior and senior prom, Maverick took it upon himself to design and sew an elaborate winter ball gown from scratch.

In his now-famous Facebook post, Maverick admitted to initial doubts about his ability to complete such a challenging project. However, his love for his sister and his commitment to the task saw him through. "The untold story of a loving [elder brother]," he wrote. "I didn't expect that I can do this on time. I even doubted myself if I can do this or not because the concept is different from what is already being done. But God is really good. He did not abandon me."

Despite his nerves, Maverick turned to the internet for guidance, studying various ball gown designs, especially Michael Cinco's Spring and Summer Collection, to gather inspiration. He then sketched his own design, choosing blue and white to match the prom's winter ball theme. With some help from his mom, Maverick—who is pursuing a bachelor of arts and culture—carefully sewed the dress piece by piece.

The result was nothing short of magical. Maverick first created an incredible skirt using royal-blue fabric, adorned with white satin ribbons in a criss-cross pattern. To further enhance the skirt's beauty, he added white plastic flowers with crystal beads. For the bodice, Maverick hand-painted a beautiful ombré that blended seamlessly with the skirt. The finishing touch was a pair of dramatic butterfly sleeves that looked like they belonged fantasy book.

"I've done my part very well as your supportive brother and I will never get tired of supporting you, that's your brother's promise to you," Maverick wrote to his sister. "I hope I make you happy this Valentine's Day. Even though we didn't get your wish for the best dress but for me it was the best dress and the best because you are wearing it. Your brother loves you so much."
