Madame Tussauds Berlin threw their wax figure of President Trump in the trash as a "symbolic" and "preparatory measure" ahead of the elections on Tuesday. The statue of Trump's predecessor, former President Barack Obama remained in Madame Tussauds' collection.
“Today’s activity is rather of a symbolic character ahead of the elections in the United States,” said the museum’s marketing manager Orkide Yalcindag told Reuters. “We here at Madame Tussauds Berlin removed Donald Trump’s waxwork as a preparatory measure.”
As you can imagine, the student attracted a fair amount of attention online. "Remember when Trump said the USA would be 'respected again,' under his leadership?" one user asked. "Madame Tussauds Berlin, has shoved their Donald Trump wax figure into a dumpster. How's that for respect?"
Another user added: "Current exhibit at Madame Tussauds in Berlin is giving me life."
While one user concluded: "Madame Tussauds in Berlin loaded its wax effigy of Donald Trump into a dumpster, calling it a 'preparatory measure' ahead of the election. Danke schoen, Germany."
The move comes as Vice President Joe Biden is ahead in the polls. FiveThirtyEight, which collects polls from all over the country and produces an average, shows Biden as the clear frontrunner in the presidential election, with an 89 in 100 chance of winning the presidency. Many polls also suggest that the Democrats could take the Senate along with the White House, giving them all three seats of power.
