Wedding planning is always stressful, but it's exponentially more overwhelming when you're in the middle of a pandemic. And surprise! We're all in the middle of a pandemic right now.

One poor bride-to-be, who goes by Deux Aubrey on Facebook, shared her recent wedding planning snafu. It had to do with her wedding dress, which she, unfortunately, had to order online and give up the wedding dress shopping trip she imagined. When she put on the mail-order dress, it didn't look anything like the pictures.

She fired off an angry email to the company. In a now-viral Facebook post, she explains what happened next. "Two weeks ago my wedding dress came in," she writes. "I was really upset about the looks of it and sent an angry email to the company wanting to return it. I took pictures of me in the dress telling them it looked nothing like what I had ordered.

"Well, today I received this response from the company: 'You put the dress on inside out, please put it on the right way.' Who knew that they shipped wedding dresses inside out? ...The dress actually turned out beautiful. Sometimes it doesn't matter how much school we put behind us... We're still going to lack common sense, like how to put clothes on properly.

"They probably didn't appreciate my angry email. This post is the least I could do to thank them for 'fixing' the problem (me, the problem was me). But I hope they appreciated a good laugh.

"And you all too... During this tense time of the election results, I hope you take comfort in the fact that I was not on your presidential ballot...nor will I ever be running for any office... I'll help save your life but seriously, please don't call me to dress you. Apparently I have trouble doing that for myself."

At least she had a sense of humor about it! In an update to her original post, she explains how this happened: "No sleep (16-24 hour shifts for a living), finals week, husband laced me up and was upset also with the look of it, in a rush between jobs, skepticism with the company to begin with, anger at ordering online as opposed to shut down dress shops during a pandemic, stress of wedding and pandemic in general..."

In short, she (a nurse!) was overwhelmed with work and wedding planning and the pandemic. Whew. That's a lot of stuff to be dealing with all at once. She was already wary of the company and then the possibility that they would ship the dress inside out didn't even cross her mind.

I don't blame her for having the reaction she did! Even though she was so stressed out, I'm glad she could laugh about it in the end. She did say that the dress, once she turned it out the right way, was beautiful and exactly what she'd ordered.

Aubrey hopes her post brings a bit of laughter and joy to people. It might also serve to help brides who also open up their mail-order wedding dresses and panic because they look nothing like the pictures. Take a deep breath and see if it's inside out.

She says she'll take a real picture of herself in the dress when she finally gets to walk down the aisle in it. Until then, she writes, "You can cry about the disasters and imperfect moments that hit us when we least expect them, or you can laugh into forever." I like the second option.
